Politics in Jamaica - How does it affect ME

Well the internal election for the presidency of the PNP has just concluded and as the dust settles a new PNP emerges(yea right). The PNP is as it always was - a Party that opposes new ideas and the Leadership mentality is that, if you oppose unseccessfully you will be expelled. Dr Peter Phillips opposed the incumbent Portia Simpson Miller for the Presidency of the PNP and what a ghastly act he performed. Many PNP stalwarts "bashed" him for his unthinkable act of defience, "HOW DARE HIM". But seriously though what is a democracy that does not welcome or make room for challenge, what is this? a shame!!!!!!
Peter Phillips and others of his Arise and Renew team "stepped aside" and gave up the spokesperson roles to as they say "allow Portia to build a team that she can work with". The only members of the arise and renew team that did not step aside are Fenton Ferguson and Wickham Mcneil - who were give shadow portfolios (What a coincidence).
In 1954 when the three Hs opposed Norman Manley and lost and were expelled by the party and this kind of action had a hand in the PNP losing the election in 1980.
In 1954 the entire English-speaking Caribbean and Central and South America were coerced into cold war politics. In Jamaica, the situation was strong. The JLP's talk of Russian ships and other communist propaganda against the PNP was ameliorated by the role of the American and the British political leadership in intimidating Jamaican political leaders to play their role in the cold war politics.
There can be no doubt as to who leads the PNP, for now. Portia is as much the leader now as she ever was. but how long will she lead without another challenge and where will this challenge come from - WHO. The PNP must by now realise that the reason they are opposition is not disunity(that was always there), it is because of the leader and her leadership strategies that allowed the disunity to get out of hand.
But what am i going on about?
