Where is the Sand.......................Mr Samuda

Is it possible to for 500 truck loads of sand to be moved without leaving as much as sand trail?

The government yesterday stated they needed more time to properly handle this “complex” investigation. But how much time do they need? Three months is not enough?
Come on Mr. Samuda, the country has a right to know how far the investigation has gone especially due to the fact that theft force the developers to call off the reported $8b development at a time when Bruce is preaching that persons should invest in the country. This does not send a good message to Jamaicans, here and abroad, or potential foreign investors.

Persons are saying that because the sand cannot be used in construction, it must have been stolen for use by an hotel.

Could that be the hold up?

Have we failed our young?

On October 4th and 6th of this year, the Jamaica Observer published two letters both written by readers and both were directed at KSAC Town Clerk Errol Greene. The letters blasted Mr. Greene for the way he reprimanded a youngster selling on the streets of Half Way Tree. In one of the letters entitled “Shame,” the writer chided Mr. Green for seizing the June plums the youngster was selling. It was obvious that the writer of the letter was not fully aware of the actions and intentions of the KSAC as he asked why they were stopping the child from selling and they (KSAC) were out there to clear stalls.
In the other letter, entitled “Heartless,” the writer asserts that Mr. Green was abusing his authority by taking away the Plums from the child. What’s more, the writer stated that this type of action is what I wrong with society, and branded Mr. Green as being Heartless and Mindless.

Well, we will all will have our opinions on whether Mr. Green’s action were justified even after reading his article clarifying the circumstances surround the matter. But is this the real issues we should be talking about? No!!!!!

Persons have failed to look at the bigger picture and answer the most important question arising - Why was the little boy selling in the first place?

On a walk through downtown Kingston an any given day or time, you will witness children selling items from Moth Balls (camfa ball), toiletries, accessories and all other items including, in rare cases, Narcotics. Have we failed our young?

Why do these children sell? Is it for lunch money? If so, what of the parents and their responsibilities as care givers and breadwinners? Why should these children have to fend for themselves?
We can beat around the bush as much as we want but fact of the matter is that as adults we failed these children. When Mr. Green questioned the child, it is alleged that the child stated that he was selling for his mother who was busy selling on nearby street. Have we failed our young?

We have failed to really enforce truancy laws aimed at ensuring that children get the chance at a good education. We have failed them by our laxity in enforcing International Labour Organization laws to stop child labour. We have grown to accept seeing children fend for themselves all in the name of “eating a food”. The day a child is made to fend for him/her self, is the day society as a whole has failed them. We have failed to protect our children from the harms and perils that are present in the society, we have failed to provide our children with the education they need to become productive members of our society, and I don’t this I need to highlight the effects of this failure by the State. WE HAVE FAILED.

There are many issues that needs to be brought to the fore, but those will come out n further discussion.

Politics in Jamaica - How does it affect ME

Well the internal election for the presidency of the PNP has just concluded and as the dust settles a new PNP emerges(yea right). The PNP is as it always was - a Party that opposes new ideas and the Leadership mentality is that, if you oppose unseccessfully you will be expelled. Dr Peter Phillips opposed the incumbent Portia Simpson Miller for the Presidency of the PNP and what a ghastly act he performed. Many PNP stalwarts "bashed" him for his unthinkable act of defience, "HOW DARE HIM". But seriously though what is a democracy that does not welcome or make room for challenge, what is this? a shame!!!!!!
Peter Phillips and others of his Arise and Renew team "stepped aside" and gave up the spokesperson roles to as they say "allow Portia to build a team that she can work with". The only members of the arise and renew team that did not step aside are Fenton Ferguson and Wickham Mcneil - who were give shadow portfolios (What a coincidence).
In 1954 when the three Hs opposed Norman Manley and lost and were expelled by the party and this kind of action had a hand in the PNP losing the election in 1980.
In 1954 the entire English-speaking Caribbean and Central and South America were coerced into cold war politics. In Jamaica, the situation was strong. The JLP's talk of Russian ships and other communist propaganda against the PNP was ameliorated by the role of the American and the British political leadership in intimidating Jamaican political leaders to play their role in the cold war politics.
There can be no doubt as to who leads the PNP, for now. Portia is as much the leader now as she ever was. but how long will she lead without another challenge and where will this challenge come from - WHO. The PNP must by now realise that the reason they are opposition is not disunity(that was always there), it is because of the leader and her leadership strategies that allowed the disunity to get out of hand.
But what am i going on about?
I am of no political persuasion.

two yute inna mi office, one seh mi a labourite and one seh mi a PNP. the one that is PNP seh mi a labourite an di one dat is JLP seh mi a PNP.
